OK... Now we are ready to take another step closer to saving the Special 8 and protecting the Illinois Prairie Path and it's users. On Tuesday, 1/15 at 9:30AM at the DuPage Forest Preserve District headquarters at 3S580 Naperville Rd (1/2 mile south of Butterfield Rd) the entire DuPage Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners will be meeting. It is our understanding they are likely to consider the approval of purchasing the Special 8 acres. WE NEED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. WE NEED TO FILL THE SEATS like we have done successfully at earlier meetings. We may not need to speak up but I will know more about that later. If you want to speak ask me about it at the meeting and I will know if they need to hear from us or just see us. If you have not yet written to the DuPage County Board of Commissioners please send a letter or email by 1/15. Send letters to them at 421 N County Farm Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187 or send an email to: http://www.dupageforest.com/COMMISSION/comm.html Click here to send email to the DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioners. Please be sure to contact Dewy Pierotti Jr, Bill Maio, Robert Schillerstrom and Pam Rion. DuPage County District 4 Commissioners: Paul Didzerekis pauldid@dupageco.org, John Noel jnoel@dupageco.org, Mike Formento mformento@dupageco.org and Gwen Henry ghenry@dupageco.org should get a Thank you for their ongoing support to Protect the Illinois Prairie Path and Save the Special 8. Please consider sending them an email at these links (or mail a letter to the above mentioned address by 1/15). We still need letters to the Glen Ellyn Park District President Sandra Minogue, Vice President Ed Hess and the Board of Directors (check their site at: www.gepark.org/staff.htm) asking them to assume the Special 8 parcel if/when the DuPage Forest Preserve District buys it. Send letters (they do not have official email addresses) to them at the Glen Ellyn Park District, 185 Spring Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 or fax 630-858-2479. Please emphasize that we want the Special 8 parcel kept as is. They are concerned people would want a park with expensive changes once they take it over. Thank you again for your ongoing support. Please pass on this news and pass along the attachment detailing our efforts to Save the Special 8. Also check out www.ipp.org for more information.
